The president of uranium giant Cameco says the conditions aren’t right in the province for nuclear energy now.

But Jerry Grandey says there is support for it and those conditions may come.

Grandey spoke at the 3rd International Uranium Conference that’s being held in Saskatoon this week.

He says there really needs to be a greater demand for exporting nuclear power, perhaps in an interprovincial grid.

Grandey adds smaller reactors make sense for a province like Saskatchewan, but adds he’s not sure they can compete with fossil fuels.
