RCMP have confirmed charges in connection with the death of a 22-month-old Saskatchewan boy who had been in foster care.

The 45-year-old foster mother of the child, Eunice Wudrich, has been charged with criminal negligence causing death and endangering the life of a child.

On June 8th, EMTs and police were called to a farm in the Aberdeen district.

Evander Daniels had been found partially submerged in water in a bathtub.

The child was immediately taken by ambulance to hospital in Saskatoon where he was pronounced dead.

Saskatchewan’s chief coroner has said the boy had “extensive scald-type burns” that may have contributed to his death.

There were four other foster children at the farm at the time of the toddler’s death, but they were immediately removed from the residence.

The suspect has been released from police custody and will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on September 9th.

Daniels’ father says he was told very little during the investigation process, but is glad an arrest has been made.

Chris Martel adds that he will not have closure until the child welfare system is changed so that nothing like this happens again.
