The Saskatchewan government isn’t saying much about a northern community’s interest in being the site of a nuclear waste storage facility.
Representatives from Pinehouse sent a letter to the Nuclear Waste Management Organization earlier this week formally expressing an interest in the site selection process.
Rob Norris, the minister responsible for the province’s Uranium Development Partnership, says it is still too early in the process to comment.
Norris says if any official proposal is made by the community, the government will deal with it during the regulatory process.
