Northern Teen Accused Of Disrupting NYC Website

A 19-year-old resident of Denare Beach is facing criminal charges involving a commercial website originating out of New York City.

Members of the Creighton RCMP detachment executed a search warrant on a residence in Denare Beach on June 9th, which resulted in the seizure of several computers, as well as software.

Investigators allege that a computer in Denare Beach was crashing a commercial website, effectively preventing all users from connecting to this website.

Ryan Devin Lee is being charged with the unlawful use of a computer to commit an offence, committing mischief to data, and possession of a device or instrument to commit a computer offence.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court in Creighton on September 14th.

The Canadian Consulate in New York City and the RCMP Technological Crime Unit assisted in the investigation.
