Prince Albert police chief is coming out in support of the federal long-gun registry.

Chief Dale McFee says the registry doesn’t take long to fill out and can provide officers with crucial information during difficult times.

He notes knowing whether or not someone with mental health issues owns firearms can be extremely helpful.

The chief says the police in Canada use the registry about eleven thousand times a day.

Canada’s police chiefs are meeting in Edmonton this week.

They’ve already said they plan to set the record straight about the registry, which they feel is helpful.
