Cameco wants to reassure the public that the flood at the Cigar Lake mine won’t happen again.

The company recently took investors and media on a tour of the facility.

Earlier this year, workers finished pumping out the last of the water that entered the underground level.

Chief engineer Scott Bishop says, in the past two weeks, they have added 30 metres of tunnel and resumed mine development.

Bishop says the company has increased its pumping capacity and is determined not to allow any more floods, such as the one in 2006.

He says the crew is especially proud of the fact there have been no workplace accidents since the cleanup.

The company says the mine should be operational by mid-2013.
