Reserve Interested In New Surface Water Treatment

A Tisdale company has come up with a way for small communities to treat surface water — such as lakes, rivers, and dugouts — fairly cheaply.
Bill Kidd, president of Tec Water Supplies, says his company has received interest from one First Nation in the province so far — the White Bear reserve.
Kidd says White Bear has been using well water, because the community been told it can’t use surface water.
He says because the First Nation has initiated a casino, a golf course and other developments, it will soon be out of water.
However, Kidd says with his firm’s new system, the reserve can use surface water.
He says the size of the system varies, as does the cost.
Kidd says the kind White Bear is interested in is about the size of two refrigerators, and costs just under $10,000.
Commercial systems range from tens of thousands of dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
