A 19-year-old woman from the Pelican Lake First Nation appeared in court today to answer to charges of failing to remain at the scene of an accident and criminal negligence causing death.

Danielle Chamakese is accused of being behind the wheel of the vehicle that crashed into 21-year-old Daniel Carter in a restaurant parking lot in the city on September 19th.

Carter later died in hospital, prompting a city-wide search for the driver.

Chamakese was arrested over the weekend.

Saskatoon lawyer Don Worme has been retained to represent her.

Her case has been adjourned until October 27th.
