Band Electoral Officers Fired During Campaign

Some concerns are being raised about an election on the Thunderchild First Nation.
Rose Naytowhow is an elder from the community.
She says two electoral officers were recently fired from their posts.
Naytowhow feels the move is improper because the vote is less than a month away.
She says she doesn’t want to put down any candidates, but she does want the band to follow its constitution for this election.
Naytowhow also says she and several other band members were locked out of the band office on Tuesday when they went to discuss the issue — and whoever was responsible also summoned the RCMP.
The incumbent chief at Thunderchild hasn’t been available for comment.
