Band Election Postponed Over Electoral Officers

The vote at the Thunderchild First Nation has been postponed.
Elections for chief and council were due to happen yesterday, but were called off by an appeals board.
The board’s registrar, Bonnie Missins, explains there seems be confusion about who the electoral officers for the election actually are.
She says the decision was made to postpone the election because it appeared it wasn’t going to be “fair and equitable”.
Missins says other voters had already begun to make complaints about certain procedures in the run-up to the vote.
She says, so far, the appeals board hasn’t ruled on any of the complaints.
A new election date has been set for December 20th.
