RCMP are reopening their investigation into the death of a Clearwater River Dene First Nation man.
That became necessary after new evidence was brought forward Tuesday during an inquest into his death, Chief Coroner Kent Stewart says.
38-year-old Harry John Hainault was killed during a struggle with an RCMP officer who tried to arrest him September 2nd, 2008.
The inquest, held in Meadow Lake, was adjourned after new evidence came to light.
Reports say that new evidence involves video tapes of the matter.
Stewart says the appearance of the new evidence raises a lot of questions. It’s hoped the investigation will answer them.
Stewart says the next step in the process will depend on what the investigation and what it finds.
