Indian Affairs has come out with its list of foods it no longer subsidizes for transport.
INAC spokesman Leo Doyle says foods like bacon, which offer little nutritional value, are no longer eligible for subsidized-airlift.
He explains the department still offers a break on many nutritional items and will be looking to expand that in the future.
Shipments of water are also off the list along with diapers and canned soup.
Doyle says many of those can be moved over ice roads and don’t need to be flown in.
