A new vice-chief has been crowned at the Prince Albert Grand Council.

This afternoon Brian Hardlotte of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band defeated incumbent vice-chief Ed Henderson.

Hardlotte won by a mark of 123 votes to 89 with two ballots spoiled.

He says he’s overwhelmed with the win.

“It feels almost overwhelming.  It was a long day.  It went a couple of rounds there.  But I feel better now.  I feel better because of our culture, because of the ceremony they had.  I feel better.  I feel strong.”

Hardlotte says housing, youth problems and treaty issues are just some of the problems he’s ready to tackle.

He’ll serve a term in office of three years.
