Saskatchewan Justice confirms an inquest into the freezing death of a Canoe Lake teenager will happen next week.
Eval Lariviere says the Meadow Lake courthouse will be the site of the probe into the death of his 19-year-old son, Kyle.
It was back in early January of last year that his son was picked up by the RCMP for public intoxication.
He escaped out the back of a police cruiser when it stopped in front on the Beauval detachment office and the officer stepped out.
The Mounties have since said the officer looked for the teen, but eventually gave up.
For reasons that are still unclear, the officer then waited several hours before contacting the family to see if Kyle was there.
Searchers later found his body on a snowmobile trail seven kilometres outside of Beauval.
Eval Lariviere says he hopes the inquest can bring answers to the family and help them deal with the tragedy.
Lariviere will be attending the inquest, which begins Monday at 10:00 a.m.
He says he hopes it doesn’t drag out for too long.
