The James Smith Cree Nation continues work towards a proposed hydro-electric dam in the area.

The project was first announced in the spring of 2008.

Chief Wally Burns says since that time they have been

busy developing their corporation and most recently, preparing an environmental assessment report.

Costs for the project were initially tagged at a billion dollars.

The chief says, however, that financing can be attained.

Burns says he hopes to meet with Shore Gold this week to talk about the project.
