An environmental conference is focusing on how tar sands technology is going global.
The fourth annual Everyone’s Downstream conference is taking place this week in Edmonton.
Community representatives from Indiana and Utah, the UK, and the island of Trinidad are gathering at the University of Alberta to discuss the impacts of the ever-expanding mega-project.
Maya Rolbin-Ghanie is the conference organizer and says this can be a warning to let these communities know what’s in store with tar sands projects.
Other representatives attending include members of Fort Chipewyan, and the Lubicon Cree of Alberta.
