The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority is busy making emergency flood protention preparations at Fishing Lake.

Right now it is raising low areas around berms

and in January plans on constructing a channel to accelerate the flow of water away from Fishing Lake.

Jim Waggoner with the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority says there is definitely a concern the area might flood again next spring as the water shed is very wet.

Waggoner notes there has already been above average snowfall this winter.

He says there are also some homes and infrastructure that are currently flooded due to the rainfall from this spring and summer, so the watershed authority is working to help the reserve.
