Cumberland House Murder Suspect In Court

A preliminary hearing has been set for March 8th for a 25-year-old man from the Cumberland House Cree Nation accused of killing another man.

George Fisher McAuley was arrested on Friday and charged with second-degree murder.

He appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court this morning.

RCMP were called to a home on the Cumberland House reserve around 2:30 Friday morning.

Police say an injured 43-year-old man was taken to the local health clinic and pronounced dead a short time later.

The RCMP’s Major Crimes unit was brought in to assist with the investigation.

The victim’s name has not been released.
