The province is reporting that employment for First Nations and Metis peoples is continuing on an upward trend.
According to the latest labour statistics, 33,800 Aboriginal people were employed in November this year.
That is a year-over-year increase of 1,700 people from November 2009 to November 2010.
Saskatchewan also had the second lowest seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Canada rate at
5.5%.
The national unemployment rate is 7.6%.
However, the provincial NDP says the recent Statistics Canada report shows there are 2,400 more people without jobs in Saskatchewan from last year.
NDP Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration critic Cam Broten says a combined 10,000 jobs have been lost in the sectors of education, agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining and oil and gas.
Broten also notes that 23.1% of the First Nations labour force is looking for jobs.
