Pathologist Takes The Stand At P.A. Trial

A forensic pathologist told a Prince Albert courtroom Friday he saw 9 different impacts to the skull of a three year-old boy who died three years ago.

Dr. Shaun Ladham testified these were likely caused by a flat object, like a board, or from his head hitting a wall or floor.

He said the injuries were not consistent with a fall.

Ladham said there were also contusions on the boy’s chest but those could possibly have been caused by C.P.R.

Ladham then refuted a suggestion by the defence that the head injuries could have happened over the course of a day or a few days prior to that.

He said the impacts likely happened at the same time.

Ladham did note there was evidence of past injuries to the boy as well, meaning less force would have been needed to cause a fatal injury.

The boy’s step-dad, Jordan Crowe, faces a charge of second degree murder in the case.

The trial resumes Monday.
