The Saskatchewan Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council has hired a First Nations man as its labour development strategist.
The new initiative is focused on Aboriginal communities, and all under-represented people in the trades.
Lyle Daniels says part of his job will be to educate Aboriginal people about the opportunities in the building trades.
Daniels says with a large number of young Aboriginal people, the province’s north is an untapped, potential workforce.
He adds he hopes to develop relationships with First Nations and Metis communities across the province.
