Jury Hears Closing Arguments In Crowe Trial

Closing arguments have been delivered in the case of a Prince Albert man accused of murdering his stepson.
The lawyer for 31-year-old Jordan Crowe asked the eight-man, four-woman jury to find his client not guilty.
Greg Chovin said the facts simply don’t support the notion that Crowe caused the fatal injuries to his stepson.
He noted the mother of three-year-old Dilyn Donald admitted telling false stories to police about being out prostituting the night her son was rushed to hospital.
Chovin also said she testified her mother had taken the boy out for a visit the day in question, yet forgot to tell police in the days after the tragedy.
He then pointed to testimony by a medical examiner who said it was difficult to know when the boy suffered the injuries which caused his death.
The prosecution has painted a much different picture.
Jennifer Claxton-Viczko said the accused had motive and opportunity that night.
She noted Crowe told police he wanted some time for himself the evening in question, but had to take care of Dilyn instead.
She also said a police interview, where he appeared hysterical in the wake of the boy’s death, shows he has difficulty keeping his emotions in check — and that the inconsistencies in the mother’s testimony could simply be indications she is trying to cover up for him.
The jury will begin deliberating the case tomorrow.
