It was a historic moment in RCMP history as the new Commander of Forces “F” Division in Regina was introduced today.
Commander Russ Mirasty of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band became the first RCMP officer of Aboriginal descent to receive the post.
Mirasty wants to work on building relationships and says relationships with First Nations and Metis people can be improved by building partnerships with their respective leaders.
Mirasty has been with the force for 35 years, serving most recently as the Chief Superintendent.
