The Key First Nation chief and band councillor charged with drug trafficking had their cases heard in a Kamsack court yesterday.

Fifty-two-year-old Gerald Papequash remains in custody and will appear in a Yorkton court tomorrow for a bail hearing.

Fifty-eight-year-old Key Chief Clarence Papequash was represented by a lawyer.

His case is adjourned to March 15th.

In the meantime, several community members and others affected by the prescription drug trafficking and addictions issues met this week to look at recommendations and possible solutions.

The session was hosted by the Yorkton RCMP.

Representatives included officials with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations, Saskatchewan Health, the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacists and addictions services with the Sunrise Health Region.

A working group has been set up and will meet again in early April.
