A tribal chief is lobbying the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations for help in saving one school and fixing up another.

Ron Michel of the Prince Albert Grand Council says students at the First Nations University of Canada need a northern campus to use.

Right now, students are forced to study at different locations around the city.

Michel also says the axe is about to fall on the First Nations University of Canada’s National School of Dental Therapy.

He says the loss of the school would be devastating.

Michel notes the school needs to find funding by March 31st or it will close.

He says a resolution was passed at a previous FSIN legislative assembly to put political pressure on Ottawa to restore funding to the school, but he’s not sure what has been done.
