New Chief at Pasqua

Pasqua First Nation elected a new chief on Friday.

Todd Peigan won with 318 votes over incumbent Chief Elaine Chicoose who received 180.

Margaret Scales received 63.

Of the eight councillor positions, four are newly elected: Kevin Missens with 275 votes, Lyle Peigan received 214 votes, Gwen Cyr 202 and Leona Peigan 201.

Cecile Asham, Lindsay Cyr, Leroy Obey and Delbert Pasqua will continue on as council members for another two year term.

Twenty-nine band members were running for council seats.
