A Prince Albert man has been handed a 10-year sentence for carrying out two violent home invasions where he assaulted four people.

Lance Regan was given credit for three years time served, however, so he will spend just 7 years in custody.

Back in 2008, Regan and a number of other people entered two residences in Prince Albert’s west flat.

In all, the 24 year-old was convicted of two counts of aggravated assault, two common assaults, one charge of unlawful confinement, robbery, uttering threats and a firearms charge.

Judge R.D. Maher handed down the sentence this morning at Court of Queen’s Bench in Prince Albert.

Speaking outside the courthouse, Regan’s lawyer Nicholas Stooshinoff said he had hoped his client would get less time behind bars.

However, he acknowledges the fact another man also received a 10-year sentence likely factored into the decision.

The judge noted Regan had to be transferred twice because two correctional facilities had problems with him.
