Mayor Worried About Apartment Closure

The mayor of La Ronge says he’s deeply concerned about the pending closure of an apartment building in La Ronge.

Thomas Sierzycki says the closure of Quarry Apartments will further impact the vacancy rate in the town.

He says right now that rate is between zero and one percent.

The mayor says it’s his understanding the tenants will have to be out by the end of the month.

Sierzycki says the current lot-developments being undertaken in La Ronge should provide some relief in the future.

However, in the meantime, he says all groups and agencies in the community are going to have to come together to decide what they’re going to do.
