Another northern Saskatchewan community is throwing its name in to be considered to host a nuclear storage facility.

Mike Krizanc with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization confirms Creighton has requested an initial screening to see if there are any reasons why it shouldn’t be considered further in the process.

Pinehouse and the English River First Nation have already expressed interest.

Five communities in Ontario have also asked for screenings.

The initial screening takes about two months.

NWMO anticipates it will take 7 to 10 years to find an appropriate site for such a facility.
