Apartment Complex Sinking

There are more details about why an apartment complex in La Ronge is being closed.
Shanta Knight, the woman who owns Quarry apartments, says the building has sunk into the earth by 4 inches on one side.
She says the situation has already prompted the closure of 3 suites.
Now the remaining 15 tenants, and their families, are being told to leave by the end of the month.
Knight says everyone has been notified and told they won’t have to pay rent for this month.
She adds the decision to close the building was her decision.
Knight says she has applied to Sask Housing’s rental development program for funding to fix up the buildings so they can be reopened.
She estimates the work needed to jack and pin the building could cost anywhere from $120,000 to $150,000.
She adds so far she’s been turned down by the rental development program and finds that frustrating.
