The last of four people in a cocaine trafficking ring operating in the Battlefords and Edmonton is now in prison.
Forty-year-old Melanie Martell has been sentenced to 34 months in the Pinegrove Institution.
She began serving her sentence this week.
Martell was charged with five counts of drug trafficking, one charge of assault causing bodily harm, and one charge of belonging to a criminal organization.
She was also charged with three counts of breach of recognizance.
Martell pleaded guilty to all charges.
Battlefords RCMP Corporal Jason Teniuk says a “criminal organization” isn’t necessarily a gang.
The charges were laid in June, 2009 after a nine-month investigation.
