Consider Self-Determination: Professor

A political science professor wants people to think about self-determination rather than self-government.

Joyce Green works at the University of Regina and was a panelist for a First Nations governance debate in Regina last night.

Green says the term self-determination goes beyond the limits of self-governance.

She says self-determination involves everyone in a common project of liberation whereas self-government means limitations and keeping “those people over there”.

Green says the de-colonization of Indigenous people will lead to a better future for everyone.
