Woman Protests Grandchildren Being Apprehended

A woman who had custody of her missing daughter’s children was busy protesting yesterday afternoon in Regina.
Diane Big Eagle was outside the provincial Social Services office on her grandaughter’s eighth birthday.
Big Eagle’s grandchildren were apprehended nearly five months ago and she says she may not get them back until July.
Big Eagle says she is being treated unfairly.
In February, Big Eagle requested to change her child protection worker who was involved in a high profile case where a child died in a foster home.
Big Eagle is the mother of Danita Big Eagle who has been missing since February 2007.
Karen Waselenka with Social Services says, generally speaking, every effort is made to address the clients concerns and encourage clients to work with the assigned case worker.
