The challenges and possible pitfalls of dealing with mining companies is being discussed in Prince Albert today.

Northern delegates are hearing from other community leaders and experts about what to look for when the mining industry comes knocking at your door.

Don Deranger is one of the coordinators of the event.

He says many northern communities have a lot they can teach their southern counterparts about the issue.

Deranger says workshops on treaty rights and the oral history of Aboriginal people are just a few of the topics at the forum.
