The president and CEO of Cameco says the ongoing issues at the Fukushima reactor in Japan will change the nuclear renaissance.
But, Gerry Grandey is confident nuclear energy will rebound and still remain a viable option.
Grandey spoke yesterday at a Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business luncheon.
He thinks Fukushima will raise the interest level with everyone about what should be done with used fuel, including any communities in the north who are interested in learning more about nuclear waste storage.
Grandey says communities definitely should be able to decide for themselves if they would like the opportunity and custodianship of nuclear waste for many, many years.
