Four First Nations remain under local states of emergency.

Cowessess, Sakimay, Ochapowace and Standing Buffalo First Nations continue to fight rising flood waters.

They are four of 15 communities across the province operating under local states of emergency.

Duane McKay with Corrections, Public Safety and Policing says three of the First Nations still have people who were forced to leave their homes: 17 people from Cowessess, 14 from Sakimay and four from Ochapowace.

However, McKay says sandbagging on the First Nations is going well, pointing to Standing Buffalo.

He says the reserve has offered to help other communities, which is an indication its confident its own structures are protected.
