Officials with North American Fur Auctions say prices appear to be on the rise heading into the next sale in May.

Dave Bewick of NAFA Winnipeg says prices were down last year but have been on the rise, especially for fur used as trim.

Bewick says one bright spot could be muskrats which could bring in $7 – $8 a pelt.

He says marten are expected to be up to $80, coyote around $70 and Lynx about $100.

Otter will probably remain about the same as last year at $60.

Bewick says China is still the main buyer, but other strong markets are Russia, Korea and parts of Eastern Europe.
