A dangerous offender hearing for a 22-year-old Aboriginal man will be held in September.

Justice Janet McMurtry made that ruling in a Regina courtroom Thursday.

Justin Piapot was found guilty late last year of aggravated assault for punching 66-year-old Jerry Gray in the face.

Crown Prosecutor Roger DeCorby says Piapot has a long history of violent offences.

The hearing will begin on September 26th in Regina.
