A movement is afoot to re-open the Natural Resource Transfer Agreement of 1930.

The approach is being taken by the Prince Albert Grand Council, Treaty 8 First Nations in Alberta, and a northern tribal group in Manitoba called M.K.O.

The groups want to reopen the agreement which took minerals and other resources out of their control.

PAGC chief Ron Michel says their first meeting is set for Winnipeg next month.

Michel says the nations have a three-year mandate that will see them hold meetings in Saskatchewan and Alberta over the coming years.
