The two-day Northern Economic Summit sponsored by the Saskatchewan Government is concluding today in La Ronge.

During the gathering about a dozen major economic initiatives for the north were identified by representatives of the three Enterprise Regions.

Boreal West Enterprise Region Chair Patty Shaw says two ideas main were popular with delegates from her area.

They are a connector road to Fort McMurray, and the High School Work Experience and Mentorship program.

The meeting was held at the Lac La Ronge Indian Band and Chief Tammy-Cook Searson says it was important to bring together people from the various groups.

A follow-up meeting will be held in June, and updates on the progress of the initiatives will be done throughout the year.

Participants say they hope another summit can be held next year.
