Fishing Lake Grapples With Flood Fallout

Three years of flooding have taken their toll on the Fishing Lake First Nation.
The band is suffering from the results of high water levels in 2009, 2010 and this spring.
Housing coordinator Mike Desjarlais says one of the main problems lies with sewage tanks on the reserve.
He says the units, which were constructed of fibre-glass, are starting to deteriorate due to the wet conditions.
He adds the tanks require constant pumping which can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per year.
Desjarlais says they also desperately need a new school.
He says 70 students are crammed into 5 portable trailers so they would like the minister of Indian Affairs to come and assess the situation.
