First Relay for Life Raises $140,000

The final numbers aren’t official yet, but the first Relay For Life to be held in La Ronge has raised about $140,000.

Organizers say 26 teams took part in the event held Friday and Saturday at the Mel Heglund Uniplex.

Co-organizer Deb Thome says it wasn’t just individuals who put their support behind the Relay, noting companies helped with prizes, donations or participants.

All of the money raised goes to the Canadian Cancer Society.
