The man charged after a two-month-old child was injured at the Clearwater River Dene Nation will be going to trial in Court of Queen’s Bench.

La Loche RCMP arrested 49-year-old Richard Carlos Fontaine after the young girl was brought to hospital last August.

The child was airlifted to Saskatoon for treatment, and later released into the care of the Meadow Lake Tribal Council.

Fontaine faces three charges, including aggravated assault and failing to provide the necessities of life.

A date has not been set for his trial, which will take place in Battleford.
