Fire Ban In Northern Provincial Forest Lifted

Fire bans have now been lifted in the provincial forest, parks or recreational sites south of the Churchill River system, including Clearwater River Provincial Park.

The ban was announced a couple of weeks ago because of dry conditions and an extreme fire hazard.

Saskatchewan Environment says the situation has changed due to recent rainfall and reduced fire hazards.

The government notes municipalities may have local restrictions in place that are not affected by lifting the provincial ban.

Residents are advised to check with municipal officials for information on those local restrictions.

Saskatchewan Environment says people should still be cautious with any fires they start.

The ministry also says a period of dry weather could lead to another fire ban.
