The University of Regina is recognizing Aboriginal architect Douglas Cardinal with an honourary degree at the school’s spring convocation this week.
Cardinal is described as “a forerunner” of green building design and ecological community planning, whose buildings reflect his “observations of nature”.
He is well known for designing the Canadian Museum of Civilization, the National Museum of the American Indian, St. Mary’s Church in Red Deer and the First Nations University of Canada in Regina.
Other honourary recipients include environmental journalist Alanna Mitchell and Regina business leader Paul Hill.
