The Yellow Quill First Nation is announcing some major plans for economic development.
Yellow Quill recently completed its land selection under its 1993 Treaty Land Entitlement Framework Agreement, which entitles the band to settlement money.
At a ceremony this morning, the band said it wants to invest millions of dollars to boost jobs and training for its members.
In particular, Yellow Quill plans to invest in projects similar to the First Nations Bank building in Saskatoon.
That building is owned by the band and is home to some of Saskatchewan’s biggest resource companies.
Chief Larry Cachene says the band’s real estate holdings are beginning to pay major dividends and more announcements are on the way.
Today’s ceremony coincides with Yellow Quill’s Treaty Day.
The band has also unveiled its new water treatment plant today.
